9/11 As History

Educators may confront more than the ordinary challenges of a new school year - they will face the need to provide guidance and support to youth as our nation commemorates the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

9/11 As History is an initiative by the Families & Work Institute (FWI) with funding from Bank One. FWI anticipated that educators would need appropriate materials to help them mark this day with children and youth. They also knew that there were organizations and individuals with enormous expertise to create these materials. In the collaborative spirit of September 11th, they brought these people together - educators, experts in the field, national organizations - to develop the best possible educational resources and materials for our children. The result of this effort is 16 unique commemorative, Web-based lesson plans, tied to national educational standards for pre-k through grade 12, as well as a series of tips for educators and parents on how to best talk with children.
