Japan Intergenerational Conference

In Global Perspective

 

This page highlights intergenerational programs and practices from around the world. The goal is to increase our awareness of the international aspects of this movement and communicate how intergenerational phenomena vary in culturally diverse settings.

Intergenerational Experience Study Tours Around the World

  • Spain Intergenerational Study Tour - October 5-10, 2008
    • Learn about intergenerational programs and practices in Spain
    • Meet the practitioners and scholars who are the driving forces behind Spain’s pioneering and dynamic intergenerational movement
    • See how you can incorporate innovative intergenerational approaches into your own organization, practice, or education
    • Learn about culturally significant places, foods, and values in Spain.

    The multi-city intergenerational study tour itinerary in Spain (October 5-10, 2008) takes us on a journey to Barcelona-Valencia-Murcia-Granada. This tour is organized by Travel & Learn, Inc. (based in Hawaii), the Penn State Intergenerational Program, Red Intergeneracional (Spain’s intergenerational network), Viure i Conviure Foundation (Caixa Catalunya), La Nau Gran (University of Valencia’s School of Grandparents), the University of Murcia, and Ofecum (Oferta Cultural de Universitarios Mayores).

    Create or improve your own programs and receive continuing education credits (4.5) from The Pennsylvania State University. For more information, contact Dr. Matt Kaplan at msk15@psu.edu. Registration and additional information are available at http://www.travellearnstudy.com/tours.asp. Cost: $1,750 (Includes ground transportation, accommodation, most meals, and tour support.   • Germany Intergenerational Study Tour - Stay tuned for more information about the intergenerational study tour in Germany. From June 1-7, 2008, travelers will visit programs in Berlin, Dresden, and Halle.
  • Other Intergenerational experience study tours are planned for Hawaii, Japan, and Mainland U.S.A.
