As a community-based educator, extension educator, or a human service professional you might be interested in graduate education to improve your career opportunities. This program focuses on educational programming for youth and families within communities. The curriculum prepares students to assume leadership roles in educational and human services organizations.

You can either be a full time student or earn your degree attending the Department’s annual three week summer session. For applicants who are teacher certified in family and consumer science, the summer only option is a prime way to strengthen your knowledge in teacher preparation while you are also meeting state mandated professional development requirements.

The program usually lasts two years or three summers. Students are required to take 31 to 35 credits and write either a professional paper or thesis.
