The professors in this department seem committed to helping the students with on-going professional development. They are not just concerned that the students fulfill the requirements of their degree, do their assistantship or thesis work, and graduate. They want to make sure students get extra-curricular development opportunities to help prepare them for their future careers.

Since coming here, I have been able to refine my professional goals. I have also been encouraged to consider the skills I would need to realize those goals. Furthermore, the coursework has allowed me to learn new skills and, more importantly, identify and hone skills I already had but had not necessarily been aware of. Since joining this department, I have learned new ways to think about how I go about my various tasks.

Various courses in AEE have helped me not only focus my own professional goals, but also learn new skills in dealing with people.
